A community improvement is planned for the Alco area courtesy of Leadership Brewton’s 2010 class.
Scott Hillman Jr., Leadership member, said coming to a deciscion on a project was difficult, but the Alco Park was high on the list of ideas.
Hillman said the park was originally built in the early 1990s but is showing some wear from use over the years.
Along with making upgrades to existing items at the park, Hillman said the group plans to incorporate some new equipment into the area.
The group also plans to provide additional playground equipment at the park to provide entertainment for children.
In addition to new equipment at the park, Hillman said some landscaping is also being planned. Renovating handrailing is also planned along with the incorporation of parking areas for the park.
The park was originally created after a group of Alco residents got together to put a plan into action.
Hillman said Wade’s interest in being involved in the project could be an inspiration to others in the community.
The group has not set specific workdays for the project pending fundraising efforts, Hillman said.

Class members include Amy Booker, Wanda Ellis, Debra Fuqua, Letha Harrison, Scott Hillman, Jr., Jason Jackson, Jessica Lindner, John Pettis and Bill Willis.
