W.S. Neal Eagle B-team splits, ends with loss

After a seven-game losing streak to open 2010, the W.S. Neal Eagle B-team found themselves on a two-game win streak Friday night after earning a 36-34 come-from-behind win over the Flomaton Hurricanes at home.
Trailing 28-24 heading into the final quarter of play, the Eagles went on a 7-0 run to open the quarter and take a 31-28 lead with 4:11 left to play as they outscored Flomaton 12-6 in the quarter to seal the two-point win.
Flomaton ended the 7-0 run and tied the game at 31-31 after being fouled on a 3-point play and connecting for three free throws.
Percy Travis put W.S. Neal pup 34-31 with 3:46 to play with a 3-pointer and Jaquan Tucker put the Eagles up 36-31 with 2:35 left in the game.
Flomaton cut the lead to 36-34 with 2:00 left in the game and W.S. Neal had their chance with 16 seconds left to put the game away but missed a front end of a one-and-one free throw as Flomaton got the rebound.
W.S. Neal would steal the ball with 3 seconds left and run the time off the clock to seal the win as no team scored the final 2:00 of the game.
Flomaton used a 7-0 run in the first quarter to lead 13-6 after the first quarter of play.
W.S. Neal would cut the lead to 13-11 in the second quarter only to see the Hurricanes go on a 6-0 run to claim a 19-11 lead with 3:42 left before halftime.
W.S. Neal stormed back with a 6-0 run of their own to cut the lead to two points at 19-17 at the half as they outscored Flomaton 11-6 in the quarter.
In the third quarter, W.S. Neal extended their run to 10-0 to take a 21-19 lead with 4:02 left to play, but Flomaton answered with a 7-0 run to lead 26-21 with 1:20 left in the third quarter and 28-24 at the end of the third quarter.
Travis led with 11 points and Josiah Nettles and Jalen Harrod added eight points.
Dalton Evan added three points and Donovan Millican, Marquese Banks, and Tucker all had two points each in the win.
W.S. Neal was 2-for-7 from the free throw line while Flomaton was 8-for-13. The win improved the Eagles to 6-12 overall.
Pleasant Home 48,
W.S. Neal B-team 40
The B-team Eagles of W.S. Neal finished their season with a 6-13 record after ending their season with a 48-40 loss at the hands of Pleasant Home Monday night on the road.
Pleasant Home led 9-7 after the first quarter and 16-15 at halftime after the Eagles of East Brewton cut the lead by one point with an 8-7 run in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, Pleasant Home used a 17-6 run to take a 12-point lead, 33-21, heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, W.S. Neal held a 19-15 run to cut into the lead by four points, but it was not enough as they lost by eight points.
Travis led with 11 points and Tucker finished with nine points.
Millican chipped in eight points and Banks added four points.
Harrod, Elliott, Damion Williams, and Nettles all had two points in the loss for the Eagles.
The Eagles shot 0-for-2 from the free throw line in the loss while Pleasant Home was 14-for-30.
