The Alabama Supreme Court on Thursday lifted a temporary restraining order that had barred raids of bingo halls in Alabama.
The move comes days after state troopers were denied access to two casinos — VictoryLand near Montgomery and Country Crossing near Dothan — when they were mobilized by the state's anti-gambling task force.
VictoryLand and Country Crossing remained closed Thursday, and anti-gambling task force head John Tyson would not say what the task force's next step would be.
It is not clear how the ruling would affect Wind Creek Hotel & Casino near Atmore, a federally regulated Indian gaming facility.
Tyson and Gov. Bob Riley have said they would like to go after Indian gaming in Alabama as well as facilities operated elsewhere in the state.
