JDCC Warhawk basketball gets win Thursday night

For the ninth straight game, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk basketball team came away with a loss as Monday night at Southern Union they lost 68-61 in overtime.
With their ninth straight loss, the Warhawks of JDCC fell to 3-15 overall and to 2-8 in conference play.
The Warhawks trailed 29-24 after the first half only to fight back in the second half and tie the game at 54-54 at the end of regulation with a 30-25 advantage.
In the overtime period, Southern Union outscored JDCC 14-7 to get the seven-point win.
Damien Jackson led the Warhawks with 18 points and Marquis Williams followed with 11 points, four steals and five assists to lead the Warhawks.
Kentrail Brown added 10 points and Dennis Miller added eight points.
Logan Campbell chipped in six points and led with two blocks and Zaviar Likely added three points for the Warhawks.
Jamey Goddin led with 12 rebounds and added five points.
The Warhawks shot 30 percent from the field while Southern Union shot 41 percent.
JDCC was 5-for-19 (26 percent) from 3-point range while Southern Union was 7-for-22 for 32 percent.
The Warhawks were 4-for-10, 40 percent, from the free throw line, while Southern Union was 9-for-12 for 75 percent.
JDCC will be back in action at LBW today at 7 p.m.

Wallace Selma 72
The Warhawks ended their nine-game losing streak Thursday night at home as they defeated Wallace State of Selma 85-72.
The win improved JDCC to 4-15 overall and to 3-8 in conference play.
JDCC led 42-39 after the first half and outscored Wallace Selma by 10 points, 43-33, in the second half to get the 13-point win.
Jackson led with 29 points, three steals, and nine rebounds in the win. Brown finished with 20 points and Campbell added 19 points.
Marquis Williams chipped in eight points and led with 12 assists and Jamey Goddin poured in six points.
Dennis Miller added three points for the Warhawks and led with two blocks in the win.
