For more than 18 months, East Brewton Police have been trying to apprehend a suspected burglar. Success came when Lt. Matthew Kirk located and arrested the suspect Thursday.
Paula Thomason Butts, 44, of East Brewton was arrested and charged with theft of property first degree and burglary third degree in connection with a home burglary in 2008.
Kirk said the burglary of more than $13,000 in jewelry took place in 2008 at a Williamson Street residence.
Kirk said the jewelry was taken from a home while the lady of the house was hospitalized and being visited by her husband.
Butts is being held at the Escambia County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.
