Charles William Squires, Jr. 66, died February 22, 2010. He was a military veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force. After his military service, he returned to Tuscaloosa, where he pursued his love of flying. He was a pilot in Dothan in 1969-70. He was also a crop-duster for several years. He worked for several corporate businesses in Tuscaloosa as chief pilot and then moved to Archer, where he was a ranch manager for Grass Prairie Ranch for 11 years.
He is survived by his son, Charles William Squires III of Brewton; his grandson, Charles William Squires IV of Fairhope; his mother, Margaret Squires of Tallahassee, Fla.; his sister, Peggy (Jimmy) Higgins of Tallahassee; his two nephews, Jim and Jack Higgins of Tallahassee; and many friends.
A memorial service was held in Archer for his friends. The family will have a memorial in Carrabelle, Fla.
