TRM falls to Flomaton, takes third

Needing just one win Saturday morning against Flomaton in their Escambia County Tournament finale to go to 3-0 and take the championship, the Tigers dropped an 8-4 game to fall to 2-1.
The loss for the Tigers earned them third place in the tournament as T.R. Miller, W.S. Neal, and Flomaton all finished with 2-1 records and forced the winner to be decided by tiebreaker.
The team with the least amount of runs allowed would take the championship. W.S. Neal took first with 11 runs allowed followed by Flomaton with 12, and T.R. Miller with 18.
In the game Saturday, T.R. Miller struck early with two runs in the first inning only to see Flomaton score three in the third inning to take a 3-2 lead.
The Hurricanes would add two more runs in the fifth inning and three in the bottom of the sixth inning as the home team to hold an 8-2 lead heading into the top of the seventh inning.
T.R. Miller scored two runs in the top of the inning to cut the lead to 8-4, but the Hurricanes would hang on for the win to hand T.R. Miller their first loss.
Joseph Strength took the loss on the mound for the Tigers as he allowed three hits, three runs, one walk and struck out seven in four innings.
Corey Rilling pitched two innings and allowed five runs on three hits, walked four and struck out four.
Ryan Hunt was 1-for-2 and Wes Dickey was 2-for-2 in the loss. Caleb McAnally was 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Kevin Davis was 1-for-2 and Rilling was 1-for-4 with one RBI. Stephen Warren was 1-for-3 and Wil Riggs was 2-for-3 with a double in the loss for the Tigers.
McAnally and Kevin Davis made the all tournament team for the Tigers in the tournament.
