The Brewton Council of the Arts is planning a season-ending show expected to bring audiences to their feet and set hands to clapping with the presentation of Abbamania Tuesday night.
The curtain will rise on the show at 7 p.m. on the stage at Woodfin-Patterson Auditorium on the campus of Jefferson Davis Community College.
Madelyn Cave, president of the Council of the Arts, said the show will be a presentation suitable for the family.
The performance has been touted as a rock musical which features nine musicians and singers. The group will perform 21 of Abba’s hits, including “Dancing Queen,” with all the costume changes, choreography, a live band, back-up singers, all with the big studio sounds. They are accompanied by members of the London Ontario Symphony Orchestra that travel with the show.
The other performances for the Brewton Council of the Arts have drawn big crowds this season, she said.
All performances have corporate sponsors to help the Council be able to bring such good quality entertainment. Sponsors are Bank of Brewton, BankTrust, Brewton Medical Center, The Curtis Finlay Foundation, First Progressive Bank, Hines Realty, The Medical Center Pharmacy, McMillan, LTD, NDI, Stokes and Stokes, P.C., Surgical Associates of South Alababama and Sandra Weaver.
The Curtis Finlay Foundation, along with The Alabama State Council of the Arts, and the National endowment for the Arts, also help the Curtis Finlay Foundation sponsor the Arts for Youth in school performances.
