TRM track takes fourth place at MA

Both the T.R. Miller boys and girls track teams began their 2010 track season in Montgomery Saturday at the Montgomery Academy Invitational.
While being invited to the meet, the Tiger teams were competing against Class 1A-6A champions from last year and both teams placed fourth overall behind the three 6A schools.
Auburn claimed first and was followed by Mountain Brook, and Smiths Station.
Girls Results:
For the Lady Tigers of Brewton, Karisa Nelson placed fifth in the 800-meter with a time of 2:34.60 and also placed fifth in the 1600-meter race with a time of 5:31.26. Nelson claimed first in the 3200-meter race with a time of 11:52.98.
Katie Nelson took third in the 3200-meter race with a time of 12:13.50.
Amber Nelson ran the 100-meter hurdles and placed sixth with a time of 19.04 and placed seventh in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 53.52.
The Lady Tigers 4×800-meter relay team placed fourth with a time of 11:47.69. The team consisted of Haley Brown, Katie Nelson, Amber Nelson, and Amber Terry.
Boys results:
For the Tigers boys team, Anthony Herbert ran in the 100-meter dash and placed eighth with a time of 11.66 and Brandon Nelson ran in the 3200-meter race and placed eighth with a time of 11:12.08.
Terez Lane placed in numerous events for the Tigers including fourth place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.79, a first place jump in the high jump with a 6-2 jump, and a long jump- that took second place of 20-10 1/2.
Kori Jackson placed sixth in the event with a jump of 20-4.
In the triple jump, Lane placed first with a jump of 44-2, and Jackson placed fourth with a jump of 40-2.
Kendrick Watson placed eighth with a jump of 37-06.
The 4×100-meter relay team for the Tigers placed third with a time of 45.01 and consisted of Herbert, David Ikner, Jackson, and Jerric Woods.
The 4×400-meter team placed seventh with a time of 3:56.38 and consisted of Christian Carlson, Brandon Nelson, Trevor Derricks, and Matt Ray.
In the pole vault, Madden McCall placed first with a vault of 12’-6”, followed by Spencer Waldrip in third place with a vault of 10-feet.
Johntae Brown placed fifth in the shot put with a toss of 39-08 and first in the discus with a toss of 138-01.
Trevor Diercks placed sixth in the javelin with a throw of 126-08.
