JDCC softball now 7-11 with split Tuesday

A record of 4-4 in their recent stretch of games improved the Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawk’s softball team to 7-11.
The Lady Warhawks went 3-3 at the Wallace State Hanceville tournament to improve to 6-10 before splitting with Marshalltown Community College at home on Tuesday to make their record 7-11.
Game one:
Marshalltown CC 6,
JDCC 5
The Lady Warhawks scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to force extra innings but was outscored 2-1 in the eighth inning to lose 6-5.
JDCC trailed 4-1 until the bottom of the seventh inning.
Brittany Linton took the loss on the mound as she went 2 1/3 innings allowing two earned runs (four total) on five hits, walked one and struck out four.
Haley Wilborn was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Antwinique Harris was 2-for-2 with one RBI, Candice Lawrence was 1-for-3 with one RBI and Lauren Marshall had an RBI in the loss.
Tiffany Duncan was 1-for-5 and Kristin Myers was 2-for-4.
CaSandra Yarbrough was 1-for-4 and Aleah Payne was 1-for-3 in the loss.
Game two:
JDCC 4,
Marshalltown 2
In game two, JDCC picked up a 4-2 win to improve to 7-11 overall.
Both teams scored two runs in the first inning and JDCC scored two runs in the third inning to get the win.
Lacey Wiggins earned the win on the mound for the Lady Warhawks as she went six innings allowing two runs on four hits, walked three and struck out three.
JDCC had four doubles in the win with Payne, Marshall, Sarah Dunaway and Andrea Ruschel hitting in the win.
Payne, Marshall, and Dunaway were all 1-for-2 in the game.
Dunaway recorded two RBIs and Ruschel went 2-for-3 in the game with one RBI.
Myers was 1-for-3 and Lawrence was 2-for-3.
In other games for the Lady Warhawks, JDCC went 3-3 in the Wallace State Hanceville tournament.
JDCC lost to Gadsden State 8-4 and Jefferson State 4-2.
The Lady Warhawks then defeated Calhoun 5-1 to improve to 4-9 before losing to Wallace State 8-1 to fall to 4-10.
JDCC also racked up wins when they defeated Olney and Snead 6-3 to improve to 6-10.
The Lady Warhawks will take on John Wood at home today at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and will take on Enterprise State on the road Wednesday also at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
