TRM Tiger baseball sweeps Cottage Hill Friday

After having a week off from play, the T.R. Miller Tiger baseball team swept an area doubleheader Friday in Mobile against Cottage Hill, 12-5 and 12-9.
The wins for the Tigers improved them to 7-3 overall this season and 1-1 in area play with a head-to-head tiebreaker over the Warriors.
T.R. Miller was set to be back in action Tuesday when they traveled to Flomaton.
The Tigers will be back in action Thursday when they travel to Jay for a 4 p.m. game.
The Tigers will play at Choctaw County in an area doubleheader Friday at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Game one: T.R. Miller 12, Cottage Hill 5
Trailing 5-4 after five innings of play, the Tigers erupted for a seven-run sixth inning and added one more run in the seventh inning while holding Cottage Hill scoreless to take a 12-5 win.
T.R. Miller trailed 3-1 after three innings of play before cutting the lead to one with a run in the fourth inning.
Cottage Hill took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run of their own, but the Tigers would plate two in the fifth inning to tie the game at 4-4.
Cottage Hill added one run in the fifth inning before being held scoreless the remainder of the game.
Kevin Davis picked up the win on the mound for the Tigers as he went seven innings and allowed five runs, two earned, on five hits, struck out 11, walked five, and hit four batters.
At the plate, Wes Dickey was 1-for-3 and Conner Denton was 1-for-4 along with Davis. Caleb McAnally was 1-for-5 with an RBI and Cody Swain was 1-for-4 with two RBIs.
Corey Rilling was 1-for-5 and Ryan Hunt was 1-for-3. Robert Knowles was 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Game two: T.R. Miller 12, Cottage Hill 9
In game two, the Tigers used a four-run fourth inning to break a 7-7 tie and held on for the three-run win to get the sweep of Cottage Hill.
T.R. Miller scored two runs in the first, one in the second, fourth in the third and fourth innings, and one more in the sixth inning to get the win.
Knowles took the win on the mound for the Tigers as he went four innings and allowed seven runs, five earned, six hits, struck out six, walked four and hit one.
Rilling grabbed the save as he went three innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits, walked two and struck out four.
Denton was 3-for-4 with three RBIs at the plate for the Tigers and Davis was 2-for-4 with one RBI.
McAnally was 1-for-4 with one RBI and Swain was 3-for-5 with one RBI.
Hunt was 3-for-4 and Knowles was 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Stephen Warren was 1-for-3 with three RBIs.
The T.R. Miller JV team fell to 1-5 Thursday at home with a 10-3 loss to the Jay Royals.
Jay scored seven runs in the third inning to break a 1-1 tie and take an 8-1 lead.
T.R. Miller cut the lead to 8-2 with one run in the fourth inning before Jay added two runs in the seventh to claim a 10-2 lead.
The Tigers added one run in the seventh inning to cut the lead to 10-3 but failed to plate any more runs in the loss.
Jacob Fillmore was 2-for-3 in the loss and Curtis Glaize was 1-for-2. Darby Black was 1-for-1 and Kameron Winn was 1-for-2 along with Trey Salter.
Black pitched in the loss for the Tigers.
The Tigers were set to take on Flomaton Tuesday and will take on W.S. Neal Monday, March 29 at 4 p.m. in East Brewton before the varsity game at 6 p.m.
