Mr. Chesley Otis “Chet” Blackmon, 72, died Monday, March 22, 2010. He was a native of Conecuh County and a resident of the Brewton area for most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army  and had worked as an automotive mechanic for a number of years. He was a member of Pilgrim’s Chapel Holiness Church.
He is survived by his wife, Willie Mae McGougin Blackmon of Brewton; a son, Darrel Blackmon of Tampa, Fla.; two stepsons, Larry McCall of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Johnny Ray McCall of Flomaton; a stepdaughter, Rebecca (Leonard) Stringer of Brewton; two brothers, Maxwell Blackmon to Range, and Arthur Blackmon of Range; five sisters, Gladys Aycock of Brewton, Brenda (Doug) Osterly of Gulf Port, Miss., Margie Mayo and Fay Hammac, both of Range, and Diane Kendricks of Macon, Ga.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 24, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Johnson officiating. Burial followed at Cooper Cemetery with Craver’s Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Steven Smith, Justin Stringer, Greg Mayo, James Asberry, Adam McCall, and Zac Chavers. Honory pallbearer was Leonard Stringer.
