Tough losses|TRM JV falters in final inning to lose to Excel

The T.R. Miller Tiger JV baseball team ended their season Monday at home with a doubleheader loss to the Excel Panthers.
T.R. Miller lost 8-6 in the first game and 9-7 in the second game to end their season with a 1-10 record.

Leading 5-1 heading into the top of the fifth and final inning of game one, T.R. Miller gave up seven runs in the inning on one hit to lose 8-6.
Excel’s lone run prior to the inning came in the third inning while T.R. Miller scored one run in the first, two each in the second and third innings to hold a 5-1 lead.
T.R. Miller would add one run in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut the lead to 8-6, but failed to score anymore in the loss.
Caleb Dickey took the loss on the mound for T.R. Miller in relief of starter Darby Black.
Darby went four innings and left with the bases loaded and no outs in the fifth inning giving up four runs on one hit, walked six, struck out eight, and hit two.
Dickey went one inning and allowed four runs on one hit, walked two and hit one.
In the fifth inning along, T.R. Miller committed two errors while walking five and hitting one.
At the plate, Dickey was 2-for-3 with one RBI and Collin Graves was 1-for-3 with a triple. Jacob Filmore had an RBI in the loss, Curtis Glaize was 2-for-3 and Kameron Winn was 2-for-3 with a double.
Rickey Curry was 1-for-2 with a triple and an RBI and Black was 1-for-2.
Tyler Nelms was 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Excel 9, T.R. Miller 7
Excel batted around and scored six runs in the first inning to help propel them to a two-run win over the Tigers.
Excel took a 7-0 lead before T.R. Miller scored one in the second, four in the third, and one in the fourth to cut the lead to 7-6.
The Panthers later would take a 9-6 lead with two runs in the fifth inning before T.R. Miller added one run in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to two, but failed to score anymore in the loss.
Sam Smith took the loss on the mound going one inning allowing six runs on five hits, walking and striking out two.
Graves went the final four innings and allowed three runs on three hits, walked and struck out two as well.
At the plate, Dickey was 1-for-2 and Graves was 1-for-3. Black was 2-for-3 with a double and a triple and Brett Smith had an RBI.
Trey Salter was 1-for-2 and Alec Robinson was 1-for-1. Josh Maloy had an RBI in the loss for T.R. Miller.
Northview 3,
T.R. Miller JV 1
The JV Tigers lost 3-1 to Northview Saturday in an earlier game to fall to 1-8.
The Tigers were set to end their season with a doubleheader Monday at home against Excel.
Northview scored two in the second inning and one in the sixth while T.R. Miller’s lone run came in the top of the seventh inning.
Collin Graves was 2-for-3 at the plate in the loss and Jacob Fillmore was 1-for-3 with a double.
Darby Black was 1-for-3 with Tyler Nelms who added two RBIs.
Shawn Odom pitched in the Tigers’ loss.
