In a doubleheader baseball game in Atmore Tuesday the W.S. Neal Eagles faced the Escambia County Blue Devils.
W.S. Neal lost 12-11 in the first game against the Devils. They went on to defeat the Atmore team in  game two by a score of 13-7.
The split with the Blue Devils made W.S. Neal’s record overall 13-12.

W.S. Neal made eight errors and had seven hits in game one while losing by one point, 12-11.
Atmore jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after two innings of play, and after the Eagles cut the lead to 5-4, Atmore used a four-run fourth inning to grab a 9-4 lead.
W.S. Neal tied the game with a five-run fifth inning, but the Blue Devils grabbed an 11-9 lead with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning.
W.S. Neal once again fought back and tied the game at 11-11 with two runs in the top of the seventh but fell to one run in the bottom of the inning to take the loss.
Dylan Godwin, Christian Purvis and Jeremy Myers all pitched in the loss for W.S. Neal with Myers taking the loss.
Godwin went 1 2/3 innings and allowed seven hits, struck out one, and three earned runs. Purvis went 1 2/3 innings and allowed two hits, struck out three, walked one and two earned run.
Myers went 3 1/3 innings and allowed four hits, struck out one, walked two and no earned runs.
At the plate, Purvis was 2-for-4 with one RBI, Reid Johnson was 1-for-3 with three RBIs, Myers was 1-for-2 with one RBI and Cam Blackman was 1-for-2 with one RBI.

In game two, W.S. Neal led 8-0 after the top of the first and 11-1 after three innings before having to hold on for the six run win.
Atmore scored four runs in the fourth inning to cut the lead to 11-5. Both teams would add two runs late in the game.
Brian Settle pitched six innings, allowing four hits, struck out four and three earned runs.
Blackman went one inning and allowed two hits, one walk and two earned runs.
Purvis went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Tyler Sawyer was 2-for-2 with two RBIs.
