Golfers and visitors to the Brewton Municipal Golf Course will soon have a smoother route along the course, thanks to the approval of a bid to rebuild the cart paths at the facility.
Brewton City Councilmen approved a bid submitted by Creamer Dozier to complete the work on a $50,000 budget planned for the project.
Gary Hill, recreation director for the City of Brewton, said the bid by Creamer Dozier came in at a lower cost than proposed by other bidders.
Councilman Joe Watson asked if the project included any resurfacing of current paths.
Hill said Creamer Dozier’s bid included a much deeper base than was seen previously in the paths. That, he said, should eliminate some problems seen in the past.
The bid approval was unanimous with work planned to begin on the new paths.
Also during Tuesday’s meeting of the council, City Clerk John Angel informed council members of new regulations in place that will require changes at the Brewton Municipal Airport.
Angel said the cost for the work is estimated at $10,600 with the State of Alabama offering to cover half of the costs.
