Taxpayers have until tomorrow to file taxes, whether electronically or by mailing them, or they must file for an extension.
Anyone who was hoping for extended hours to mail their returns will not be able to do so — the U.S. Post Office’s locations throughout Alabama will not have extended hours on Thursday.
IRS spokesman Dan Boone offered some good tips that may help those who are still procrastinating on their tax returns.
The IRS offers these other tips as well:
If you owe $25,000 or less, you may apply for a payment plan using the Online Payment Agreement application or just attach Form 9465, Installment Agreement Request, to the front of your return. The IRS charges $105 for setting up the agreement, or $52 if the payments are deducted directly from your bank account.
