WSN softball falls to Jackson Friday, now 5-12

In a Friday softball game rescheduled by Thursday’s rain, the W.S. Neal Lady Eagle softball team lost 12-2 to area opponent Jackson.
With the loss, the Lady Eagles fell to 5-12 overall and to 1-3 in area play.
In the game Friday according to W.S. Neal head coach Jeff Haney, W.S. Neal got down 5-0 after two innings due to errors.  
Lauren Boatwright was 1-for-3 at the plate and Britta Wood was 1-for-1 with a walk.
Wood also had a big day on defense recording five outs on fly balls including a tough ball behind first base in foul territory.  
Kaitlin Hadaway took the loss on the mound for the Lady Eagles but had 5 strikeouts in the loss.
W.S. Neal’s next game will be after spring break this week and will be played Monday, April 19, at home against B.C. Rain at 4:30 p.m. The game will be an area game for W.S. Neal.
The Lady Eagles will play T.R. Miller at home Tuesday, April 20, at 4 p.m. before finishing their regular season and area schedule with a Wednesday game at home against UMS-Wright.
The game with the Lady Bulldogs is a rescheduled game from earlier in the season and will begin at 5 p.m. in East Brewton.
The Lady Eagles will begin play in their area tournament Friday, April 23.
As of right now, W.S. Neal is the No. 3 seed in the area ahead of No. 4 seed B.C. Rain.
The area tournament will be played at the No. 1 seed’s field, either Jackson or UMS-Wright.
As the No. 3 seed, W.S. Neal will play the No. 2 seed followed by the No. 1 seed taking on the No. 4 seed.
