An Escambia County woman and her 6-year-old daughter were killed Monday morning in a car wreck on Middle Creek Road in east Escambia County.
Chief Deputy Mike Lambert identified the victims as Lori Simmons, 25, and her daugher Zoe, 6. Lambert said it appeared Simmons lost control of the car, veered off the road and hit a tree. The car was engulfed in flames by the time the first witness arrived and went to call police.
Lambert said Simmons was on her way to take her daughter to Pleasant Home School in Covington County when the wreck occurred.
