Lady Warhawks fall to ASCC

The Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawk softball team recently went 3-5 in their eight-game stretch to make their record 20-26 overall and to 5-11 in conference play.
The Lady Warhawks were swept by Alabama Southern and Wallace State Dothan in conference games before sweeping Meridian in a pair of non-conference games. Back in conference play, JDCC split with Faulkner State at home Tuesday.
ASCC 3, JDCC 1
In game one against Alabama Southern last week, Alabama Southern broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the sixth inning to defeat JDCC 3-1.
JDCC was held to four hits with Tiffany Duncan going 2-for-3 and CaSandra Yarbrough going 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Aleah Payne was 1-for-3.
Yarbrough took the loss going six innings and allowing two runs, three total, on eight hits, walked one and struck out three.
ASCC 4,  JDCC 2
Alabama Southern used a three-run first inning on one hit, five walks, and a hit batter to help get a 4-2 win in game two over JDCC.
JDCC had only three hits in the loss with Payne going 1-for-3 with a double and Candice Lawrence and Haley Wilborn having the other hits.
Brittany Linton took the loss as she went 1/3 of an inning and allowed two earned runs, three total, on no hits, walked four and struck out none.
WSD 19, JDCC 1
Wallace State scored eight runs in the first inning and seven in the fourth as they cruised by JDCC 19-1.
Jessica Myrick had the loss on the mound as she went 1/3 of an inning and allowed six runs, eight total, on seven hits, walked two and struck out none. Sarah Dunaway was 1-for-2 with the lone RBI in the loss.
WSD 8, JDCC 0
Wallace State finished the sweep of the Lady Warhawks with a shutout winning 8-0.
Payne was 2-for-3 with a double while Elise Schanley was 2-for-2.
Yarbrough took the loss on the mound as she went four innings and allowed three earned runs, eight total, on 10 hits, walked three and struck out none.
JDCC 4, Meridian 0
JDCC ended their losing streak with a 4-0 win over Meridian to improve to 18-25 overall.
Linton earned the win on the mound as she went the complete game and allowed no runs, five hits, walked two and struck out eight.
Wilborn, Kristin Myers, Payne, Lauren Marshall, Lawrence, Dunaway, and Schanley all had hits and Payne led with two RBIs.
JDCC 6, Meridian 2
Payne went 2-for-4 with three RBI and Dunaway and Schanley were both 3-for-4 with two and one RBIs respectively to key a 6-2 win for JDCC.
Yarbrough and Myrick combined for the win on the mound for the Lady Warhawks.
Faulkner State 8, JDCC 0
In game one against Faulkner State, the Lady Warhawks lost 8-0.
Faulkner pounded out 12 hits to JDCC’s four.
Duncan, Payne, Marshall, and Brittany McCastle had hits for JDCC in the loss.
Linton took the loss on the mound as she went four innings and allowed three earned runs, five total, on eight hits, walked none and struck out two.
JDCC 6, Faulkner 5
JDCC earned a split with Faulkner in game two with a one-run win to improve to 20-26 overall and to 5-11 in conference play.
Payne was 1-for-3 with a double and McCastle was 2-for-4 with one RBI. Dunaway was 3-for-3.
Yarbrough earned the win on the mound as she went the complete game and allowed four earned runs, 11 hits, walked four and struck out one.
