Nurses deserve praise

When you’re sick, chances are the first person you see is a nurse. Whether it’s in the doctor’s office, the emergency room or a clinic, nurses evaluate the illness or injury that has brought you to seek medical attention, usually before you see a physician.
This week begins a week-long celebration to honor nurses across the country for their courageous efforts to help heal the injuried and aid the sick in countless offices, clinics and medical facilities across the country.
When given an opportunity, either during your next doctor’s visit or even a visit to the hospital, please take a moment to thank the nurses who so carefully dispense medications and treatments meant to take away pain and sickness day after day and night after night.
During this week, we take the time to applaud nurses everywhere, especially the care individuals who serve the citizens of Brewton and East Brewton in a wide variety of settings.
Join us this week as we celebrate the nurses who care for our infants, children, adults and senior citizens.
National nurses week is observed May 6 through May 12 across the nation. This special time of recognition gives us all a chance to express our gratitude for their care, consideration and valiant efforts to ease pain and suffering in stressful times.
This week we encourage you to thank a nurse.
