After the first three games of the 2010 Brewton Babe Ruth season, the Marlins lead the five-team league with a 3-0 record.

The Astros follow in second place with a 2-0 record followed by the Phillies at 1-1, the Royals with a 0-2 record and the Brewers at 0-3.

In the most recent games Monday in Brewton, the Marlins earned a 5-3 win over the Phillies to stay perfect while in the nightcap, the Astros kept the Brewers winless with an 8-4 win.

Phillies 12, Brewers 6

In the first game of the 2010 season last Tuesday, after Monday’s season opener games were rained out, the Phillies doubled up the Brewers 12-6.

The Phillies led 3-2 after the first inning and after both teams failed to score in the second inning, built a 12-2 lead after the top of the fifth inning with three runs in the third, four in the fourth, and two in the fifth inning.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Brewers made the game interesting with four runs to cut the lead to six runs, but failed to get any closer as they took the loss.

Jacob Filmore earned the win on the mound for the Phillies as he went five innings and allowed two earned runs on two hits, walked three and struck out 11.

Ryan Hunt took the loss for the Brewers as he went four innings and allowed 10 runs, two earned, on five hits, walked two and struck out three.

At the plate for the Phillies, Filmore was 2-for-3 with one RBI and Rob Stokes, Tyler Joyner, Zac Haveard, Cody Carter, and Todd Mayo all had hits in the win. Haveard had a double and one RBI along with Stokes, Filmore and Mayo having one RBI each.

For the Brewers, Sam Smith was 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs and Hunt was 1-for-2.

Marlins 17, Royals 4

Already leading 11-4 after five innings of play, the Marlins scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth to get a 13-run win over the Royals.

The Marlins trailed 3-1 heading into the bottom of the third inning before scoring three in the inning followed by four in the fourth, three in the fifth, and six in the sixth inning.

Jeremy Myers took the win on the mound for the Marlins as he went six innings and allowed four runs on four hits, walked three and struck out four.

Dylan Godwin took the loss on the mound for the Royals going three innings and allowing four runs, three earned, on four hits, walked three, and struck out four.

At the plate for the Marlins in the win, Hunter Mullins was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs followed by Myers who was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Dominique Jackson, Cam Blackman, Shawn Lucas, Houston Gray, Rob Jones, and Miles Powell having a hit each.

Jackson had three RBIs along with Myers and Powell having an RBI each.

For the Royals, Christian Purvis was 1-for-3 with a triple and Chris Jones was 1-for-3. Justin Moye was 1-for-2 with one RBI and Damion Williams was 1-for-2.

Godwin had one RBI in the loss.

Astros 4, Royals 3

Astros pitchers Brian Settle and Darby Black teamed up for a two-hitter against the Royals Thursday night to win 4-3.

Settle got the start and the win on the mound going four innings and allowing two runs on two hits, walked one and struck out three and hit one.

Black went two innings and allowed one run, walked two and struck out four.

The Astros scored one run in the first and third innings and two in the second while the Royals scored one each in the second, third and sixth innings.

At the plate for the Astros, Black was 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

Tyler Dehoff, Josh Maloy, and Patrick Glass had one hit each in the win with Mike Williams having one RBI.

Christian Purvis took the loss on the mound for the Royals going one inning and allowing four runs on four hits, walked four and struck out three.

At the plate, Caden Lodge was 1-for-2 with a double and one RBI. Purvis was 1-for-3.

Marlins 9, Brewers 2

The Marlins improved to 2-0 while the Brewers fell to 0-2 with a 9-2 Marlins win Thursday in East Brewton.

The Marlins scored four runs in the top of the first inning and held a 7-0 lead after the top of the second inning.

The Brewers cut the lead to 7-2 with two runs in the bottom of the second inning only to see the Marlins get those two runs back in the top of the third inning and win 9-2.

Blackman earned the win on the mound for the Marlins going four innings and allowing two runs on four hits, walked two and struck out 11.

Maddox took the loss for the Brewers in three innings allowing nine runs on three hits, walked five and struck out four.

At the plate for the Marlins, Jackson was 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead in the win while Hunt was 1-for-3 with two RBIs in the loss for the Brewers

Marlins 5, Phillies 3

Monday in Brewton, the Marlins trailed 3-2 after the top of the third inning before scoring three unanswered to win 5-3 and improve to 3-0.

The loss for the Phillies made their record 1-1.

Both teams scored two runs in the first inning and the Phillies scored one run in the third to lead 3-2 before falling late to the Marlins.

Myers earned the win on the mound for the Marlins going seven innings and allowing three runs, none earned, on four hits, walked one and struck out 10.

Shawn Lucas was 2-for-3 with two RBIs in the win while Powell was 2-for-3.

For the Phillies, Filmore took the loss on the mound going six innings and allowing four earned runs on eight hits, walked four and struck out nine.

Filmore led the Phillies at the plate with a 3-for-3 day and a double.

Astros 8, Brewers 4

After leaving the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth trailing 5-4, the Brewers gave up three runs in the top of the fifth inning to lose 8-4.

The loss dropped the Brewers to 0-3 while the Astros improved to 2-0.

The Astros scored three runs in the first inning, two in the third and three in the fifth while the Brewers scored two each in the first and fourth innings.

Tyler Dehoff took the win on the mound for the Astros going 3 2/3 innings and allowing four runs, two earned, on four hits, walked five and struck out five.

Brian Settle went the final 1 1/3 innings striking out four and walking one.

Darby Black led at the plate going 2-for-3 with a triple and one RBI.

For the Brewers, Wes Maddox took the loss going three innings and allowing five runs, three earned runs, on three hits, walked one and struck out four.

Hunt went 2-for-2 at the plate for the Brewers in the loss with Maddox going 1-for-3 with one RBI and Quantae Barksdale going 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Hunt went the final two innings on the mound allowing one hit, three runs, none earned, and striking out six.
