Valedictorian Allen Rigby challenged his classmates to “fulfill their potential” during his speech to graduates of T.R. Miller High School’s Class of 2010.

“This auditorium is filled with heroes and heroes to be,” Rigby said. “Our very existence is miraculous. What will you do with your one miracle?… Fulfill your potential. Be brave when you have to be. This is our time — yours and mine.”

Rigby and 80 other seniors walked across the stage at Jefferson Davis Community College Friday night to receive their diplomas.

Salutatorian Rebecca Edge urged classmates to work toward their goals.

“One can achieve nothing without hard work,” she said. “At the same time, we must learn to appreciate what we have. … Happiness is a choice.”

In a welcome speech to those gathered for the ceremony, senior Michael Lee Tran thanked friends and family members for their support.

“We thank all of you for your love, support and encouragement that has shaped us,” he said. “Our success truly represents your success.”

Giving the class history, senior Alex Baggett reminded classmates of many of their memories over the past 13 years, from teachers to school activities.

“Let’s make a pact,” she said. “No matter what happens after tonight, we will always be the T.R. Miller graduating class of 2010.”
