A.C. Norris

Mr. A.C. Norris, 82, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at his residence after a brief illness. He was a native of Lyman, Miss., and a long-time resident of Atmore and Brewton, before moving to Jacksons Gap 20 years ago. He was a member of 6fh Street Baptist Church in Alex City, a member of Kiwanis, The Gideons, Telephone Pioneers, U.S. Army veteran and a retired supervisor from South Central Bell with 36 years of service. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Clay Houghton.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Velma Idaree Norris of Jacksons Gap; three sons, Kelon Norris of Dadeville, Keith (Amelia) Norris of Brewton, and Steve (Dawn) Norris of Alexander City; six daughters, Joy Howard, Janice (Sammy) Thomas and Camille (Stephen) Pugh, all of Brewton, Carol (Jacky) Reaves of Loxley, Michelle (David) Wilson of Andalusia, Melanie (Randy) Jordan of Opelika; six brothers, A.J. Norris, Howard Norris, Bill Norris, Maurice Norris, David Norris and Edgar Norris; three sisters, Myra Lee Rogers, Edna Emmons and Martha Miller; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 5, at 2 p.m. at East Brewton First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Robert Keats officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
