Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk basketball coach Allen Gainer has signed six recruits for the 2010-2011 season.

Gainer has signed six players, two each from Alabama, Florida, and Louisiana.

From Alabama, Gainer has signed Brandon Scott from New Market, Buckhorn High School, and Gabriel Rice from Sumter County.

Derell Washington is from Milton High in Florida and Chris Peak is from Wewahitchka.

Eric Vidrine and Braylon Lazare are both from Woodlawn High School in Baton Rouge.

“Washington, a 6-1 combo guard, will hopefully be able to be a point guard with some size and strength for us,” Gainer said. “He is strong at slashing to the basket. Scott, a 6-0 guard, is very athletic and rebounds well for a guard. His high school program was very competitive, so he brings a winning attitude.”

Lazare, 6-5 wing/forward, is a left-handed player that can do a little of everything Gainer said.

“He plays inside and out and blocks shots,” Gainer said. “His older brother played for LSU and is currently in the NBA developmental league playing for Maine Red Claws. Vidrine, 6-3 wing, is an outstanding 3-point shooter and plays extremely hard.

“Should bring a level of intensity to our team. Rice, a 6-4 post player, is a hard worker and outstanding rebounder. Has a nose for the ball and is involved in every play. Peak, a 6-6 wing/post averaged a double-double in high school. He can shoot the three and rebounds well.”
