Mr. L. J. Carnley, 82, died Sunday, June 20, 2010 at a Pensacola medical facility. He was a native of Jay, Fla. and a longtime resident of Century. He was a salesman for the National American Corporation where he dealt with real estate and land sales. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and he was preceded in death by his parents, Pink Holly and Gladys Carnley; a son, Jackie F. Carnley; a daughter, Gloria J. Johnson and a grandson, Frankie G. Carnley;
He is survived by his wife, Helen Floyd Carnley of Century; two sons, Frankie (Kay) Carnley of Flomaton, and Ricky (Marie) Carnley of McDavid, Fla.; three daughters, Jo Ann Williamson, Joyce Carnley and Joan (Earl) Dewise, all of Flomaton; two brothers, Shorty Carnley of Davisville, Fla., and Dan Carnley of Flomaton; a sister, Mae Owen of Pensacola; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren and a special friend, Miss Dolly.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 23, at 11 a.m. at Flomaton Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Paul Enfinger officiating. Burial will follow at Cora Cemetery in Jay, with Flomaton Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers will be Kevin Carnley, Jackie W. Carnley, Heath Johnson, Cory Johnson, Jason Carnley, Shawn Emmons and Dusty Carnley. Honorary pallbearers will be Alton ‘Bubba’ Hammoc, Arnold Weaver, D.C. Diamond, Freddie W. Crow, Kenneth ‘Mickey’ Boutwell and Ronnie Johnson.
