Magan Engle wanted to help young cancer victims, and she chose the best way she new how.
During a recent trip to the salon, Magan gave up a long ponytail to benefit up to three children who are cancer patients.
“My mom showed me a picture on the computer of a child without any hair,” Magan said. “I wanted to do something and I decided to let my hair grow and give it to them.”
Magan, the daughter of Jenny and David Engle, is a fourth grade student at Pollard-McCall Junior High School and has been letting her hair grow to reach a length suitable for donation.
“I’ve been letting it grow for a while,” Magan said. “I could have donated when it was 8 inches long. When I found out that they charged for the wigs if they only had 8 inches I decided to let it grow. They said if I donated 10 inches that they wouldn’t charge for the wigs.”
Magan’s donation could make up to three wigs for children who have lost their hair due to illness or disease.
The Locks of Love donation was made at Verobella Salon in Brewton with Jennifer Lambeth as stylist.
