Mrs. Barbara Virginia Glennon Blacksher Schweiger, 93, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at her residence in Lillian.

She was a native of Mobile and a 1934 graduate of Murphy High School. She raised her children in Oak Ridge, Tenn. and Paducah, Ken. After the death of her first husband, she moved to Brewton and worked at Hines Realty and became a co-owner of the Carriage House. She was in real estate until she was 92 and was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James H. and Rella Wilds Glennon; her first husband, E.M. ‘Man’ Blacksher Jr.; her son, Manny Blacksher; her second husband, John L. Schweiger; her siblings, ‘Buck’ Glennon, Zip Hietter and Rella Leighton.

She is survived by her sons, James U. (Mary Lucia Carter) Blacksher and William G. and Linda Winter-Blacksher; her grandchildren, Manford, Juliet and Lucia Blacksher. Ashley (Rob) Craig, Allison (Troy) Youdarian, Amanda (Brian) Zaumeyer; her step children, Suazanne Bremser, Maria Schweiger and John Schweiger; 10 great-grandchildren; and her former daughter-in-law, Katherine Taylor Smith.

Mass will be celebrated Thursday, July 1, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be in the church at 9 a.m. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Brewton with Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home of Elberta directing.
