Restore of Brewton may be small in its location on Douglas Avenue, but it may also be the best kept secret in town.

Restore, the retail store for Habitat for Humanity, offers a variety of home building and decorating needs.

Jack O’Neil and John Lang are the only full-time workers, and the part-time volunteers are Kathy Mathieu, Randy Tatano and Jim Bilder.

“We also have several people who are part of the work release program at the Escambia County Detention Center,” O’Neil said. “That has worked out really well for us. Business has been really good and exceeded all of our plans. The economy has not been so good for some places, but this store has been doing well. In fact, it is doing so well, we may have to expand or move to a larger space.”

The store has such a variety of items for sale that anyone could find a treasure there. Not only does it have household items, but O’Neil said they have new items that are bought as surplus/salvage. They have doors, paint, furniture (both used and new), a good selection of imported rugs and all types of flooring, both wood and tile. The flooring is all new and still in the original boxes

“The items that move the best are appliances,” O’Neil said. “We get them in and they are gone the next day. Pick-up and delivery is available and items are all in good shape and guaranteed to work.”

Restore of Brewton is there for those who need to save money on those items that are sold there, but it also benefits Habitat for Humanity. O’Neil said they are hopeful that Restore will be able to finance several Habitat homes in the future.

“We have every thing from a salt shaker to a 2×4,” in here,” O’Neil said. “ People would be surprised to see what we have here and we want everyone to know that we are a resale store.”

O’Neil said items in stock don’t usually stay on the floor for long, so if shoppers think they have seen it all, they can come back a few days later and there will be completely different items on the floor.

The Restore also takes donations, which can be picked up with the Restore van.
