PGA golfer Boo Weekley was back at home in Brewton this past weekend at the Country Club of Brewton.

Weekley, a resident of Jay, Fla. and a member of the Country Club of Brewton, was in Brewton this past weekend for his eighth annual Boo Weekly Camp Compass Scramble that was held Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the County Club of Brewton.

Weekley’s manager Toggy Pace said the scramble went well.

“Everything went great,” Pace said. “We had a great auction Friday night, raising around $125,000. Saturday the golfing was great and Saturday night, Larry the Cable Guy show was off the chart. He did his show for about a hour, giving the crowd what they wanted.” Pace said Larry had a great weekend in Brewton, as he played golf with Boo all day Saturday.

“Sunday, we had a little rain Sunday morning, but was able to wrap things up just before dark,” Pace added. “Wrapping up, a great weekend was had by all. We had great food. Myself and Boo would like to personally thank Joey Turner and his staff at the Country Club of Brewton for always doing a outstanding job.”

Camp Compass is based out of Allentown, Pa., and helps inner city kids.

The group promotes outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, etc.

The money raised from the tournament helps pay for the expenses that come along with that.

Pace said Weekley’s tournament is held at the Country Club of Brewton because Boo considers the course his home course and is where he often plays and practices.

“The reason for Brewton is, because it is the best golf course around in our opinion,” Pace said.

As for how Boo is doing this year on the tour, Pace said he is having an OK year.

“Nothing special,” Pace said. “He keeps working on his game to improve all the time. He should win again before the year is done.”

On Friday night before the tournament was to begin on Saturday, a live and silent auction was held to help raise money for Camp Compass.

Over 90 silent auction items and 70 live auction items were used to raise money for the kids according to Boo’s Website.

In the past three years, Weekley’s tournament has generated more than $250,000 for Camp Compass and other local charities.

As for the tournament on Saturday and Sunday, winners were: Championship flight: 1st-John Wright/Haymes Snedeker, 2nd-Jack Slocum/Kevin Jones, Tie for 3rd-Kyle Ramey/Steve Wilson and Todd Norman/David Hancock.

1st Flight: 1st-Kevin Terrell/Steve Anderson, Tie for 2nd-Bob Green/Damon Green and Chase Blaich/Chuck Roehm.

2nd Flight: 1st-Tripp Owens/Stephen Thomas, 2nd-Murry Rutledge/Kelly Gillis, 3rd-Jeff Cummings/Brad Prescott.

3rd Flight: 1st-Michael Stringer/Justin Duvall, 2nd-Darrell Pruitt/Brian Livingston, and 3rd-Tim Anthony/Greg Jernigan.
