Comfort Care Hospice and Jim Peach Motors are hoping local residents will “Cram the Car“ again this year as they try to collect school supplies for children in need.

“We had a great response last year,” said Donna Madden of Comfort Care.

Madden said Comfort Care employees came up with the idea last year because they knew the slow economy might make it difficult for some parents to afford school supplies for the new year.

“We were trying to to do something for the community,” Madden said.

Anyone interested in dropping off school supplies can pick up a school supply list at local retailers or from area schools and drop off selected items at either Comfort Care or Jim Peach Motors, Madden said.

Last year, donations came from both individuals and businesses, and Madden said she is hoping to see similar success this year.

Supplies will be given to local schools who can then distribute them to children as needed.

The Cram the Car drive begins Monday, and school begins Monday, Aug. 9. For more information, call 867-6232.
