Good afternoon Brewton area sports fans. I hope your Wednesday has been a good one and the rest of your week will be as well.

Well, as you all may know, the football season for our area teams has not got off to a good start. Overall, we are 0-4 with T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal both being 0-2 to start the season.

If my research is correct, this is the first time since 1989 that both teams are winless together to start the season.

Hopefully our teams can get that straight this Friday night as they are both at home in region play. T.R. Miller will have the better shot at a win as they take on the Excel Panthers while W.S. Neal limps into week three having been shutout 82-0. Welcome, or should I say not welcome, the Jackson Aggies into town this week who topped class 4A as the No. 1 team in today’s ASWA poll. On a side note, Jackson beat W.S. Neal 52-0 last year.

In our preseason football guide this year, I made my second annual picks for how I thought the season would go. Well, lets just say it has not been a good year for me either.

I said W.S. Neal would be 1-1 right now and they are 0-2 and I said T.R. Miller would be 2-0 right now and they are the opposite. Just to make myself feel better, I did say the games could go the other way then I had predicted which is obvious. Did that change things or make me feel any better? No!
