Columbus Allen “Lum” Lanier

Mr. Columbus Allen “Lum” Lanier, 79, died Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native and long time resident of Escambia County before moving to Clanton. He was retired from Retirement Systems of Alabama and attended Clanton Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Emma Hayes Billy Lanier of Clanton; two sons, Joe Allen Lanier of Houston, Texas, and Tim Lanier of Marbury, Ala.; a brother, Mirian Lanier of Jasper; a sister, Jeanette Simpson of Montgomery; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Monday, Sept. 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Minister Clifford Dixon and Speaker Jerry Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Hoomesville Cemetery in the Damascus community with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
