Wow! Can you believe that we already have three high school football games under our belt  and are halfway to week four with week five being a non-region week?

The old statement of how time flies when you are having fun is so true.

Through week three, T.R. Miller sits at 1-2 overall and 1-1 in region play while W.S. Neal is 0-3 overall and 0-2 in region play.

This week, I decided to take a look at how our team’s scoring stacks up with other teams across the state.

For W.S. Neal, the Eagles have scored 14 points in three games and allowed 136 while T.R. Miller has scored 118 and allowed 69.

Overall, regardless of classification, Linden in class 1A has scored the most points so far this season with 197 points for an average of 65.7.

Teams in the top 35 scoring of note are Cordova in class 3A with 157 points, Jackson in class 4A with 150, Thomasville in class 4A with 131, and Straughn in class 4A with 124.

Of the top 35 teams in scoring, class 2A and 4A tops the list with eight teams followed by seven in 1A, five in 3A, four in 5A, and three in 6A.

In class 4A, North Jackson leads teams with 157 points and Cordova leads in 3A. T.R. Miller is seventh in 3A in scoring.

For team defense, there are four teams that lead with having no points allowed this season. Teams with shutouts are 6A Hoover, 1A Linden, 1A Maplesville, and 2A Tanner.

Flomaton cracks the top 35 list at No. 14 having allowed 14 points this season.

A classification breakdown of the top 35 defenses shows 1A leading with eight teams followed by 6A with seven, 5A and 3A with six teams, 4A with five teams and 2A with three teams.

In class 4A, Bibb County leads with six points allowed and in class 3A, Clay County leads with three points allowed for the season.

Locally for T.R. Miller, the Tigers have allowed 14 points in the first quarter, 13 in the second quarter, 7 in the third quarter and 27 in the fourth quarter and 8 points in overtime while scoring 15 points in the first, 20 in the second, 35 in the third, and 41 in the fourth and seven in overtime.

T.R. Miller has held opponents scoreless in five of their 12 quarters played while being held scoreless in two.

W.S. Neal has scored no points in the first, no points in the second, 7 in the third, and 7 in the fourth while allowing 74 in the first, 33 in the second, 15 in the third, and 14 in the fourth.

The Eagles have been held scoreless in 10 of their 12 quarters while holding opponents scoreless two.
