BMS football beats Opp, now 3-0

Brewton Middle School’s eighth grade football remained undefeated and improved to 3-0 with a 22-0 win over Opp Thursday in Opp. Also, the seventh grade team earned a shutout win 12-0.
BMS head coach Gerald McAnally said Opp was physically bigger than they were. “We just really played hard from the opening kick off until the end of the game,” McAnally said. “Our defense was impressive.”

After starting the game off with a Markail Mitchell interception who returned it 65 yards to their 15-yard line. Grant Youngblood scored on the first play from scrimmage to give Brewton a 6-0 lead after the extra point was no good.
Youngblood then gave Brewton a 12-0 lead and the win after catching a pass from Chardiun Johnson for a touchdown.

On the opening kickoff Terry Samuel hit an Opp player and caused a fumble and Brewton recovered on Opp’s 5-yard line. That set up McHenry Coleman on the next play, a run for a Brewton touchdown, and also scored the extra point to give Brewton an 8-0 lead with 7:47 left in the first quarter.
The Tiger defense then forced to a fourth down and out and took the punt and nother run to Coleman scored the next Tiger touchdown and Grant Youngblood scored the two-point conversion with 20 seconds left in the first quarter to give BMS a 16-0 lead.
With one minute into the fourth quarter, Kyle Davis, from four yards out, went untouched due to great blocking by the offensive line and the two-point conversion was no good as Brewton would lead 22-0 and get the win. Coleman had runs of 18 and31 yards on this possession
Coleman had 90 yards on 13 carries for Brewton and Youngblood had 13 yards on four carries. Davis had five carries for 46 yards and Jared Cooper had one carry for six yards.
Jones Manning was 4-for-5 for 52 yards passing and Trae walker had two receptions for 30 yards.
