In the game Tuesday at home, T.R. Miller won game one 25-17, game two 25-18, lost game three 20-25, and won game four 25-21.

“This was a big win for us,” T.R. Miller Lady Tiger head coach Greg White said. “After losing to Flomaton down there earlier in the season we were pretty motivated to come back and win tonight. I was pleased tonight with our service. We have been struggling in that area the last few weeks and I counted five total service errors tonight in all four matches so I was pretty pleased with that. Flomaton did a great job on the net and we were just able to contain them a little bit.

“We did not stop them tonight, but we just tried to contain them. They played well and we hung in there with some things and I am just proud to get the win. I was pleased with the serving because we have been struggling with that, but we battle back tonight and did a real good job.”

In game one, Natalie Neal led with five kills and two service points and Leah Brundidge had one kill and three service points with one being an ace.

“Overall we played pretty well tonight,” T.R. Miller Lady Tiger head coach Greg White said. “Pleasant Home is a young team but they have improved since we played them earlier in the season. We did a good job on the net, both offensively and defensively. Our serving is getting back to where it should be but there is still room for improvement.”

White said he had one of his setters out with an injury Thursday night. Another player was dealing with some sickness and wasn’t 100 percent but had some other players step up.

“Lauren Ward, who is one of our JV setters, stepped up tonight and had three very solid games for us,” White said. “We talked about how important it is to practice hard everyday, whether you are a starter or not, because you never know when your opportunity to play is going to come.

“She became a better player tonight which in turn is going to make our team a little better.”

In middle school action Thursday night, Brewton Middle School’s Lady Tigers lost their first match since 2008 losing to Pleasant Home 2-1. The Middle School Lady Tigers lost game one 19-25 before winning game two 25-9. In the third and final set, the Lady Tigers lost 14-16 to drop their 2010 record to 6-1.
