Mary Elizabeth White

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth “Mary Beth” White, 95, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010 in a local hospital. She was a native and life-long resident of Pollard. She was a homemaker and very active in her community. She wrote a column for The Brewton Standard, The Atmore Advance and the Tri-City Ledger called “Mary-Go-Round” for 50 years, and did a live radio broadcast on WTCB in Flomaton two days a week giving the Pollard news and a safety program. She was a member of the Pollard-McCall P.T.A., the Ladies Aid Society, the Home Demonstration Club, Cancer Society, and was a member of Pollard United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and was a charter member of the Lucille Vinson Ladies Circle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus W. White, and a son, Don White.

She is survived by three sons, F.P. “Skippy” (Clara) White of Pollard, Mickey White of Pensacola, and Johnny (Diane) White of Brewton; 12 Grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday October 5, at 2 p.m. from the Flomaton Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Frank Scott and the Rev. Floyd Dyal officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Cemetery with Flomaton Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Todd White, Hugh White, Josh White, Donnie White, Heath Gibson, and John Robert Fountain.
