Against Clarke County in the semifinals of the tournament, T.R. Miller won 3-1.

The Lady Tigers won set one 25-18 and set two 25-20 before falling in set three 25-17.

In set four, T.R. Miller won 25-17 to grab the win.

“This was a great win for our program,” T.R. Miller Lady Tiger head coach Greg White said. “We’ve been knocked out of the area tournament the last few seasons and missed the playoffs and we were determined that that was not going to happen again this season. By winning this game we have assured ourselves of a spot in the regional tournament for the first time since 2007.”

One bright spot in the win for White and his team was serving.

“We did a great job on the service line tonight,” White said. “We had a goal of zero service errors during this game. In four games combined we had a total of one service error. That was the difference in all of the wins. We need to get a little stronger and more consistent on the net but fortunately we have some more practices to get better in that area.”

In set one, Taylor Guthrie had six service points, four kills, and three blocks. Elizabeth Nelson had five service points, 12 assists and two blocks while Natalie Neal had four service points, five kills, and two blocks.

In set two, Leigh Margaret Bostic had eight service points and four kills while Leah Brundidge had six service points and nine assists. Emily Waters had four service points and six digs in the win.

While losing set three, Guthrie had seven service points and five kills while Nelson had five service points and five assists.

In set four, Brundidge led with nine service points, eight assists and one kill while Nelson had six points and eight assists and Waters had five points and six digs.

Bayside 3, T.R. Miller 0

In the finals of the area tournament, Bayside Academy continued their dominance as they defeated T.R. Miller 3-0.

Bayside won 25-15, 25-6, and 25-21 over T.R. Miller to take the area championship.

“We made way too many mistakes against Bayside,” White said. “They are a very good team anyway, and if you make a small mistake they will make you pay for it in a big way.”

T.R. Miller will now advance to the regionals of the playoffs with the dates and location to be announced at a later date.
