Drug task force and Escambia County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Pollard woman Tuesday afternoon on drug possession charges, and more charges could be pending.

Anita Nichols, 53, of 2085 Old Highway 31, was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a prescription drug, first-degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Chief Deputy Mike Lambert said deputies served a search warrant at Nichols’ home as part of an investigation into drug activity.

“We had gotten complaints of illegal drug activity there, that she was selling prescription drugs and marijuana,” Lambert said.

More charges could be pending as the investigation continues, he said.

Nichols was transported to the Escambia County jail and was awaiting a bond hearing Wednesday.

“Prescription medication continues to be a growing problem in our area,” Lambert said.
