Margaret ‘Madeline’ Sparks

Mrs. Margaret ‘Madeline’ Sparks, 84, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010 from an extended illness. She was a native of Bogia, Fla., and had been a resident of Brewton for many years. She attended Florida State College for Women in Tallahassee, Fla. and taught school for a year in McDavid, Fla. She helped manage the Judy Bond retail store for more than 25 years and attended North Brewton Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben Edgar and Bertha Elizabeth Bowman; her husband of 67 years, Bernell Sparks; her brothers, Edgar and Buford Bowman; and her sisters, Mary Nell McCaskill and Elizabeth Hines.

She is survived by her children, Sue (Harry) Hawthorne of Milton. Fla., Lisa Austin (Wanda) of Brewton, Karen (Johnny) Davis of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and Greg (Tabatha) Sparks of Mansfield, La.; her sisters, Dorothy Gunter of McDavid, and Marcella Holt of Zwolle, La.; grandchildren, Todd, Lesli, Lori, Elizabeth, Chuck, Jay, Lydni, Sydney and Abigail; and great-grandchildren, Amy, Samantha, Kelsey, Cole, Jaydon, Chase and Braydon.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, at North Brewton Baptist Church

Funeral services will be held, Saturday, Nov. 20, at 11 a.m. at North Brewton Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers will be Jay Myers, Robbi Hardy, Keith Kirchharr, Chuck Austin, Hal Parker and Allen Epsey. Honorary pallbearers will be Todd Rodgers and Chuck Fletcher. After the service, friends and relatives are invited into the church fellowship hall for lunch.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the North Brewton Choir fund or kitchen fund.
