In a Wednesday home game for the W.S. Neal Middle School basketball teams, the Lady Eagles and boys split against Jay.
The Lady Eagles dropped their record to 1-7 with a 22-17 while the boys team improved to 4-4 with a 21-8 win.
Both teams will be back in action Tuesday at home with a 1 p.m. tip.

Jay 22, WSNMS Lady Eagles 17
A 10-0 Jay run over the third and fourth quarters helped the Lady Royals defeat W.S. Neal Middle School’s Lady Eagles Wednesday at home 22-17.
In the game Wednesday, after both teams started the game scoreless for the first 3:27, the Lady Eagles trailed 4-2 after the first quarter.
In the second quarter, both teams scored six points as Jay took a 10-8 lead at halftime.
In the second half, W.S. Neal tied the game at 10-10 with 4:01 left in the quarter and claimed a 12-10 lead with 2:58 only to see Jay end the quarter on a 6-0 run to hold a 16-12, four-point lead heading into the fourth.
In the fourth, Jay continued on their run as they advanced it to a 10-0 run to take a 20-12 lead with 5:15 left in the game.
Jay would go on to outscore the Lady Eagles 6-5 in the final quarter to get the five-point win.
Kiki Floyd led W.S. Neal with 11 points and Katelyn Millican added four. Alexis Morrison had the final two points in the loss.
W.S. Neal was 1-for-4 from the free throw line in the loss while Jay was 2-for-5.

WSNMS boys 21, Jay 8
The W.S. Neal Middle School Eagles evened their record up at 4-4 Wednesday as they cruised to a 21-8 win over the Jay Royals at home.
W.S. Neal held Jay to one point in the first quarter while starting the game on a 7-0 run to lead 7-1 after one quarter of play.
In the second quarter, both teams scored four points but the Eagles held an 11-5 lead heading into the second half.
In the third, the Eagle defense once again stepped up as they held Jay scoreless while posting six points to carry a 17-5 lead into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth, W.S. Neal ended the game on a 4-3 run to win by 13 points.
Trey Taylor led W.S. Neal with six points followed by Malcolm Hawthorne with five points and Dalton Shell and D.J. Hodges with four points each. Dakota Graves added two points in the Eagles win.
W.S. Neal shot 0-for-4 from the free throw line in the win while Jay was 4-for-9.
