In their first games of the Demarquis Besteda Holiday Classic hosted by Clarke County and Jackson in Grove Hill Tuesday, both the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers and varsity Tigers lost to the Jackson Aggies.
The Lady Tigers lost 39-34 while the varsity Tigers lost 59-34.
With the losses, the Lady Tigers dropped their overall record to 7-4 while the varsity Tigers fell to 3-5 overall.
T.R. Miller was set to play in the tournament against Thursday against Marengo with the Lady Tigers playing at 11 a.m. and the boys at 12:30 p.m.
T.R. Miller will be back to their regular season schedule Tuesday, Jan. 4 at home against Flomaton at 4:30 p.m.

Jackson 39, TRM Lady Tigers 34
Leading by four points after three quarters of play Monday against Jackson, the Lady Tigers of T.R. Miller were outscored 13-4 in the fourth quarter to suffer a five-point loss, 39-34.
With the Lady Tigers leading by four to start the fourth quarter, Jackson scored the first four points of the quarter to tie the game at 30-30 with 5:14 left in the game.
T.R. Miller then got two points from leading scorer Leah Brundidge to take a 32-30 lead with 3:51 left in the game. That would be the only points for T.R. Miller in the quarter until four seconds left in the game as Jackson went on a 9-0 run to take a 39-32 lead with 11.6 seconds left. The Aggies would hit 5-for-9 free throws in the final 1:03 to turn a 34-32 lead into a seven-point lead.
Brundidge would cut the lead to 39-34 in the final seconds but Jackson claimed the win by five.
The Aggies led T.R. Miller 9-5 after the first quarter of play, but T.R. Miller would respond with a 13-8 advantage in the second quarter to lead by one point, 18-17, at the half.
The Lady Tigers would then outscore Jackson 12-9 in the third quarter to increase their lead by four, but was outscored by nine in the fourth to take the loss.
Brundidge led the Lady Tigers with 17 points and Courtney Jones added nine points. Sha Kiser chipped in six points and Diamond Middleton had two points in the loss.
T.R. Miller was 2-for-7 from the free throw line while Jackson was 11-for-20.

Jackson 59, TRM varsity boys 34
While their Lady Tiger teammates were outscored late in the game to suffer their loss, the T.R. Miller boys were outscored early to take a 59-34, 25-point loss to the Aggies.
Trailing 10-9 with 1:41 left in the first quarter, the Tigers fell to an 8-0 run to the Aggies to end the first quarter and an overall 13-0 run to go from trailing by one point to 14 points at 23-9 with 6:27 left before the half.
Jackson would end the first quarter with an 18-9 lead and outscore the Tigers 15-6 in the second quarter to lead by 18 points at the halftime break, 33-15.
In the third quarter, Jackson edged out the Tigers 17-10 to increase their lead by seven point to an overall 25-point lead, 50-25, heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, both teams scored nine points as Jackson claimed the win.
T.R. Miller shot 2-for-9 from the free throw line in the loss while Jackson was 4-for-14.
Leading T.R. Miller scoring was Darrion Salter with nine points and Jaquan Dewberry with seven.
Kameron Winn and Caleb Hubbard had four points each and Mark Bryant had three points in the loss.
Caleb Dickey, Marc Edge, and Devonte Jones all had two points in the loss and Antonio Payne chipped in one point for the Tigers against Jackson.
