William Fred Dixon, Sr.

Mr. William Fred Dixon, Sr., 84, of Dixon Nursery Road, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2010 at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native and life long resident of Escambia County. He was of the Church of Christ faith, a member of Alabama Nurseryman Association, Alabama Landscaping Association, American Legion, a U.S. Army veteran, and owner/operator of Dixon’s Nursery and Landscaping for more than 45 years.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Rogers Dixon of Brewton; two sons, William Fred (Lisa) Dixon, Jr. and Larry W. (Sheila) Dixon, both of Brewton; three daughters, Linda K. (Bob) Mensching of Brewton, Jo Ellen (Mike) Grissett of Red level, and Sandra Kay (Charles) Devall of Elberta; three brothers, Vernon Dixon of Pensacola, Fla., and Burl Dixon and Minister Clifford Dixon, both of Brewton; 10 grandchildren; and
10 great-grandchildren
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 30, at 11a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Minister Gary Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Travis Cemetery on Travis Road with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
