Mr. John Blair McCracken, 93, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, in a veterans’ home after an extended illness. He was a native of Lianarch, Pa., and a former resident of Philadelphia, Pa., before moving to Brewton in 1958. He was a member of the Brewton First United Methodist Church and a graduate of Drexel University and served in the Army Air Corps in World War II.
He is survived by his son, Jimmy (Dianne) McCracken of Brewton; two daughters, Joan McCracken Owens of Brewton and Barbara McCracken (Randy) Miller of Austin, Texas; six grandchildren, John Paul Owens, Shelley Owens, John McCracken, James McCracken, Jay Miller and David Miller; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 3, at 2 p.m. at Union Cemetery with Dr. Ed Glaize officiating and Williams Funeral Home directing.
