While the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers and varsity Tigers finished off a season sweep of the W.S. Neal Eagles Saturday in East Brewton, the Eagle B-team picked up their first win of the season over the Tigers.
The W.S. Neal B-team defeated the Tigers 28-27 while the Lady Tigers defeated W.S. Neal 47-30. In varsity action, the Tigers defeated W.S. Neal 61-35.
With the win for the Eagle B-team, W.S. Neal improved to 1-8 while T.R. Miller fell to 3-3.
In girls action, the Lady Tigers improved to 11-4 while W.S. Neal dropped their 13th straight game and fell to 1-13. In varsity action, T.R. Miller tied their combined win total from the past two years with five wins as they improved to 5-7 while the varsity Eagles of East Brewton dropped to 3-14 with their eighth straight loss.
Both teams were set to be back in action Tuesday with T.R. Miller traveling to Clarke County for an area game (T.R. Miller’s Tuesday game at Clarke County has since been postponed until Saturday, Jan. 29 due to weather conditions) and W.S. Neal taking on Thomasville at home in an area game.
Both games will start at 4:30 p.m.
T.R. Miller will be in action at home Friday night against Washington County at 4:30 p.m. while W.S. Neal will travel to Jackson.

WSN B-team 28, TRM B-team 27
W.S. Neal’s Bryson Peterson only had two points in the Eagles first win of the season at home Saturday against rival T.R. Miller, but they were probably the biggest two points of the game.
Trailing 27-26 with 20 seconds left in the game, Peterson hit two free throws to give his team a one-point lead and hang on for their first win of the season over T.R. Miller 28-27.
After Peterson’s two points to give the Eagles the one-point lead, T.R. Miller had their chance with five seconds left in the game to tie or take the lead with two of their own free throws, but missed both as W.S. Neal got the win.
W.S. Neal led 7-6 after the first quarter of play. The Eagles led 7-1 with 3:09 left in the quarter only to see T.R. Miller end the quarter on a 5-0 run.
T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal were tied 8-8 early in the second quarter until the Tigers went on a 7-0 run to hold a 13-8 lead with 2:53 left before the half.
W.S. Neal ended the quarter on a 4-0 run to cut the lead to 13-12 at the half.
In the third quarter, T.R. Miller held a 9-3 advantage to take a 22-15 lead heading into the fourth.
In the fourth, W.S. Neal started the quarter on a 7-0 run to tie the game at 22-22 with 3:31 left in the game.
T.R. Miller would end the run and hold a 24-22 lead when a technical foul was called on T.R. Miller after a tussle after a loose ball.
W.S. Neal would make one of the two free throws to cut the lead to 24-23 with 3:02 left in the game. After T.R. Miller took a 25-23 lead with 2:33, W.S. Neal tied the game at 25-25 with 2:22. T.R. Miller grabbed a 27-25 lead with 1:22 only to see T.R. Miller end the game on a 3-0 run and get the win by one point.
W.S. Neal was 11-for-25 from the free throw line while T.R. Miller was 4-for-17.
In the win for the Eagles, Trevor Burns led with 13 points and Devin Stallworth had six. Zack Haveard had five points and Peterson and Justin Floyd has two points each.
For T.R. Miller, Dominique Jackson led with 11 points and Caden Lodge added eight. Kieon Smith had three points and Aaron Yuhasz and Allen Boyd had two points each while Allen Miller chipped in one point in the loss for the Tigers.

TRM Lady Tigers 47, WSN Lady Eagles 30
Early in the girl’s game Saturday in East Brewton, it seemed that the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles would hold their own against the Lady Tigers.
Even in the second quarter as T.R. Miller led only 8-6 early in the quarter. That second quarter would be the difference in the game as T.R. Miller would use a 12-0 run and outscore W.S. Neal 19-7 in the quarter to propel them to a 17-point, 47-30 win over the Lady Eagles.
T.R. Miller held an early 6-2 lead with 2:34 left in the first quarter only to see the Lady Eagles end the quarter on a 4-0 run that included a Jasmine Crook basket at the buzzer to tie the game at 6-6 after one quarter of play.
In the second, T.R. Miller would start the quarter on a 12-0 run to take an 18-6 lead with 4:55 before the half and lead 25-13 at the break.
T.R. Miller increased their lead by four in the third quarter as they held a 14-10 advantage to lead 39-23 heading into the fourth.
In the fourth, the Lady Tigers would hold an 8-7 advantage and get the win.
While the Lady Tigers won by 17 points, W.S. Neal missed 16 free throws, as the Lady Eagles were 3-for-18 while T.R. Miller was 6-for-12.
Leah Brundidge led T.R. Miller and the game with 19 points and Courtney Jones had 12 points.
Brittany Rush chipped in eight points and Sha Kiser and Adrian Gibbs both had four points in the win over the Lady Eagles. For W.S. Neal, Crook led with 11 points and Keyvonnia Kyles had seven.
Tianna Smith and Megan Andrews both had four points and Mariah Davis had three points.
Angelique Askew had one point in the loss.

TRM varsity 61, WSN varsity 35
After not beating W.S. Neal in three years, the T.R. Miller varsity Tigers finished off a season sweep of the Eagles Saturday in East Brewton with a 61-35 win.
With the win, T.R. Miller improved their record to 5-7, with three of the wins coming against the Eagles, while W.S. Neal dropped to 3-14.
T.R. Miller held three point advantages at the end of the first (12-9) and second quarters (8-5) to take a 20-14 lead into the locker rooms at the half.
From there, T.R. Miller would start the third quarter on a 7-0 run and later have an 8-0 run to outscore the Eagles 18-4 in the quarter and claim a 20-point, 38-18, lead heading into the fourth.
In the fourth quarter, the two teams combined for 40 points with T.R. Miller holding the upper hand at 23-17 to get the 26-point win.
Both teams missed eight free throws each with T.R. Miller shooting 10-for-18 and W.S. Neal 11-for-19.
Also, both teams had seven scorers each with T.R. Miller’s Antonio Payne and Darrion Salter leading the Tigers and game with 17 points each.
Mark Bryant had 11 points and Caleb Hubbard had seven.
Kameron Winn chipped in four points and Jaquan Dewberry added three points. Caleb Dickey had two points in the win for the Tigers.
For W.S. Neal, Donovan Millican led the way with 11 points and Kenny Kiser added 10.
Montrel Banks and Dalton Evans had four points each and Tyquis Collins added three.
Hudson Brown had two points and Jalen Harrod chipped in one in the loss.
