A Flomaton man remains in custody at the Escambia County Detention Center after an alleged altercation with a student at Flomaton High School.
Allan L. Spates, 50, of Beasley Dixon Road in Flomaton, was arrested on harassment charges Friday following the incident.
Escambia County Chief Deputy Mike Lambert said Spates reportedly entered Flomaton High School where his children attend when the altercation took place.
“When Spates entered the school he came in contact with a student who reported the altercation to school officials,” Lambert said. “The incident was also reported to the resource officer at the school. Officials from Flomaton High School contacted the district attorney’s office and a warrant for Spates’ arrest was issued.”
Lambert said later on the same day Spates came into the sheriff’s office to take care of other business.
“Our deputies knew there was a warrant for his arrest and he was taken into custody at the sheriff’s department,” Lambert said.
Lambert also stated Spates was out on bond from a grand jury writ on charges of distribution and possession of a controlled substance.
“Once he was arrested a request for bond revocation was made,” Lambert said. “He is now in custody and is being held without bond.”
In a separate incident, two Flomaton women are behind bars facing a variety of drug charges.
Jody A.R. Simmons, 24, of 2223 Wolflog Road and Jodie D. Adams, 18, of McDavid, were arrested Monday at the Wolflog Road residence on a search warrant executed by member of the 21st Judicial Drug Task Force, members of the Brewton Police Department and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department.
Lambert said information concerning illegal narcotic activity at the residence promoted an investigation and subsequent search warrant.
“As a result of the investigation a search warrant was issued and officers went to the scene where the arrests occurred,” Lambert said. “The two females and a young child were found at the residence along with marijuana, cash, prescription pills and drug paraphernalia.”
Lambert said Simmons was already under the supervision of Community Corrections officers and is also being charged with violation of probation in connection with the case.
Each of the arrested women face charges of first-degree possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Each is being held at the Escambia County Detention Center on $10,000 bond.
“A month-long investigation was conducted in the case that lead to these arrests,” Lambert said. “An investigation into the case is continuing and more arrests are expected.”
