WSNMS baseball earns split in first game

Competing in their first game of their first ever season Tuesday in Grove Hill against Clarke County, the W.S. Neal Middle School baseball team earned a split to start their season 1-1.
The Eagles lost game one 3-2 but rallied in game two to get a 12-9 win.
The Eagles will take on Clarke County again, Tuesday, March 1, at 4 p.m. in a doubleheader.

Game one: Clarke County 3, WSN 2
Leading 2-0 after the top of the third inning, W.S. Neal fell to two Clarke County runs in the bottom of the third and one in the fifth to lose by one, 3-2.
W.S. Neal scored one run each in the second and third innings.
Dakota Graves and Justin Sessions were both 1-for-2 at the plate with one RBI in the loss.
Miles Powell took the loss on the mound going the complete game allowing three runs, two earned, on two hits, walked three and struck out five.

Game two: WSN 12, Clarke County 9
In just the opposite way of the first game, the Eagles trailed 9-4 after four innings but scored eight in the top of the fifth to win 12-9.
Both teams scored three runs in the first innings only to see Clarke County plate six in the second inning to lead 9-3 after two innings.
From there, W.S. Neal scored one in the third and eight in the fifth to get the win by three.
Colton Morris was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Lane Chavers was 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Morris had the no decision on the mound going two innings and allowing nine runs, four earned, on two hits, walked two and struck out two while hitting three.
Chavers earned the win going the final three innings allowing no runs, two hits, walked one and struck out five and hit one.
