WSN baseball beats Flomaton Friday in county tournament

In a rain-shortened Escambia County baseball tournament in Atmore Friday, the W.S. Neal Eagle baseball team defeated Flomaton 6-5.
The win improved W.S. Neal to 4-1 overall this season.
The Eagles served as the home team against Flomaton and led 1-0 after the first inning. Neither team scored runs in the second inning, but both scored one each in the third as W.S. Neal held a 2-1 lead heading into the fourth inning.
In the fourth, W.S. Neal took a 3-1 lead with one run in the bottom of the inning, but saw their lead vanish in the top of the fifth as the Hurricanes scored two to tie the game at 3-3.
W.S. Neal regained the lead with one run in the bottom of the fifth only to see Flomaton take a 5-4 lead in the top of the sixth with two of their own runs.
In the bottom of the sixth, W.S. Neal scored two runs to take a 6-5 lead and held Flomaton scoreless in the seventh to get the win by one.
Dylan Godwin was the starting pitcher for the Eagles and earned a no decision. Godwin went four innings and allowed no earned runs, struck out seven, walked five and surrendered two hits.
Keith Bradley went the final three innings allowing one earned runs, one walk and struck out four.
Reid Johnson was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Brian Settle was 1-for-2. Logan Williams was 1-for-3 along with Damion Williams who had one RBI on a squeeze play. Christian Purvis also had an RBI on a squeeze play for the Eagles.
