WSNMS baseball splits with Excel in 2011 finale

In their final games of the season Tuesday at home, the W.S. Neal Middle School baseball team earned a split with the Excel Panthers to end their season with a 9-8 record.
The Eagles lost game one 13-8, but won game two 9-3,

Excel 13, WSNMS 8
Excel used an 11-run third inning to defeat W.S. Neal in game one by five, 13-8.
The Panthers led 2-1 after the first inning but saw W.S. Neal tie the game at 2-2 with one run in the second.
In the third, the Panthers scored 11 runs to turn a 2-2 tie into a 13-2 lead. W.S. Neal would add four in the third and two runs in the fifth, but could not overcome the Panther lead as they lost by five.
Justin Sessions was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and one run scored in the loss for the Eagles. Rob Jones was 1-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and three runs scored and Dalton Shell scored two runs. Colton Morris took the loss on the mound for the Eagles.

WSNMS 9, Excel 3
In game two, W.S. Neal ended their season with a six-run win over the Panthers to end their season 9-8.
W.S. Neal led 5-0 after the first inning and 7-0 after two innings. Excel cut the lead to 7-3 in the top of the fourth, but W.S. Neal added two more runs in the bottom of the inning to get the win.
Shell was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and three runs scored in the win and Sessions was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and one run scored. Morris was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Alex O’Keane was 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Bryce Booker was 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Lane Chavers earned the win on the mound for the Eagles pitching five innings allowing three runs, seven hits, walked one and struck out five.
