TRM softball loses area finale to Clarke County

After a big area win over previously ranked No. 4 Excel at home Tuesday and being ranked No. 5 in class 3A Thursday, the T.R. Miller Lady Tiger softball team lost a road game at Clarke County 8-5.
With the loss, the Lady Tigers finished their area schedule with a 6-2 record and dropped their overall record to 12-5.
With the area game loss, T.R. Miller finishes second in the area and will have to travel to Excel for the area tournament.
In a JV game Thursday, the Lady Tigers lost 10-5 to Clarke County to end their season with a 9-9 record.

Clarke County 8, TRM 5
In their area game finale, the Lady Tigers lost to Clarke County 8-5.
Clarke County led the Lady Tigers 3-0 in the first inning and 5-1 after the second inning.
Clarke County added one run each in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to take an 8-3 lead before T.R. Miller added two in the seventh to lose by three.
Miranda Smith took the loss on the mound for the Lady Tigers pitching six innings allowing nine hits, one walk, and struck out two.
T.R. Miller made five errors in the loss.
At the plate for the Lady Tigers, Natalie Neal and Taylor Guthrie were both 1-for-4 with a double each.
Audrey Hamric and Leah Brundidge were both 2-for-4 and Emily Waters was 1-for-3 along with Kristen Booker. Takeysia McFugerson was 1-for-4 in the loss for the Lady Tigers.

Clarke County 10, TRM 5
T.R. Miller’s JV team was held to four hits and five runs while Clarke County scored 10 runs on six hits to get a win.
Clarke County led 3-0 after the first inning and 3-1 after two innings.
Clarke County then scored five in the third to lead 8-1 and held a 10-3 lead after the fourth.
T.R. Miller added two more runs in the fifth inning, but lost by five.
Moriah Brundidge took the loss on the mound pitching four innings allowing six hits, walked 10 and struck out five.
At the plate, Abbi Roberts was 1-for-2 along with Kelsey Thompson and Madalyn Weaver. Becca Evans was 1-for-3 in the loss.
