JDCC baseball defeats Wallace of Dothan, falls to CACC

In a Saturday road conference game at Wallace Stat-Dothan, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawk baseball team picked up a 13-11 win.
With the win, the Warhawks improved their record to 16-30-1 overall and to 6-20 in conference play.
JDCC trailed 1-0 after the first inning but would score one run in the third and five in the sixth inning to take a 6-1 lead into the bottom of the seventh. In the bottom of the inning, Wallace scored two runs to cut the lead to 6-3 and added five runs in the fifth to claim an 8-6 lead over the Warhawks of Brewton.
Down by two heading into the top of the ninth inning, JDCC rallied with seven runs of their own to claim a 13-8 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth.
In the bottom, Wallace State scored three runs to cut the lead to two at 13-11, but JDCC held on for the win.
In the win, JDCC was out hit 16-11 and made five errors.
Tyler Moore picked up the win on the mound for the Warhawks as he went 2/3 of an inning and allowed no runs, no hits, no walks and struck out one.
Moore was one of six JDCC pitchers in the win.
At the plate for JDCC, Joey Hedden was 1-for-4 with a double and one RBI and Brandon Blackwelder was 2-for-6 with two RBIs.
Jordan Creel was 3-for-4 for JDCC with two homeruns and three RBIs.
Walker was 1-for-3 with one RBI and Bill Hamrick was 2-for-5 with one RBI. Maurice Leverett was 2-for-3 with a double and Brandon Johnson had one RBI.
JDCC will play Faulkner State at home Wednesday at 1 p.m. and will take a road trip to Enterprise State Friday for a 1 p.m. game.
JDCC will close out their regular season with a home game Saturday against Chattahoochee Valley in Brewton at 1 p.m.

Central Alabama 14, JDCC 6
Monday, JDCC traveled to Central Alabama and came back to Brewton with a 14-6 loss.
With the loss, JDCC fell to 16-31-1 overall and 6-21 in conference play.
Trailing 3-2 in the top of the fourth, JDCC tied the game at 3-3 with one run in the inning. From there, Central Alabama scored three in the fourth and five in the sixth to take an 11-3 lead.
JDCC would add two in the eighth inning to cut the lead to 11-5, but Central Alabama would add three of their own in the bottom of the eighth and hold JDCC to one in the ninth to get the win by eight, 14-6.
Moore took the loss on the mound for JDCC going 3 2/3 innings allowing six hits, six runs, five earned, walked three and struck out none.
At the plate for JDCC, Lee Hunter was 1-for-4 with a double and Creel was 1-for-4 with one RBI.
Bennie Britton was 1-for-4 with one RBI and Walker was 2-for-5 with one RBI and a double.
Matthew Watkins was 2-for-5 with one RBI and Hamrick was 2-for-5. Dustin Bickmeyer was 1-for-2 with one RBI.
